Hint - For even more choices, perform numerous keyword searches including ”resume writing,” ”resume writer,” ”professional resumes,” ”resume samples,” ”executive resumes,” ”professional resume services,” etc. Bear in mind that the FIRST site which pops up has no bearing on the quality of service; it only means that they have good SEO (Search Engine Optimization). In the meantime, here are a few essential qualifiers that should play a key role in your decision.
A video resume follows many of the same principles as regular sample resumes - it has to make a good first impression in the shortest time possible and it has to stand out with regard to style as well as content. The first ten seconds of the video resume corresponds to the look and layout of your resume sample - if you fail to grab the viewer or reader‘s attention at that first instant, the rest of the resume doesn‘t get watched, or read as in the written resume scenario.
I am going to assume that you are now asking yourself, what are targeted key words and where and how do I use them? There are two trains of thought over the portion of a resume called the Career Objective. Some resume writers and consultants feel it is necessary and some say not. In my opinion and experience, adding a career objective section at the beginning of a resume is very important. This is where you can place targeted key words that will help to get you through to the next level, the interview. If these keywords are not found in a quick scan of your resume than your resume goes directly to jail and does not pass go. In other words, no interview for you!
Ok, first of all, let me explain one thing. There is NO such thing as the perfect resume. I am going to repeat that statement only because I feel I have to. ”There is no such thing as the perfect resume”. That being said, you must be very disappointed. In fact some of you are probably saying, well then why bother. Why be worrying, sweating, thinking, pouring my soul out, going through a gut wrenching and emotionally charged time with writing a resume when there is no such thing as a perfect resume? It‘s simple. You do not need a perfect resume to have your resume placed on the offer an interview pile rather than the trash and shred it pile.
Another place to look for targeted keywords is on the company‘s website. Do your due diligence and research the company you are applying to. Find out who they are, what exactly they do, what their business model is, who works for them and if you can, even what their employees are saying about the company they work for. This will arm you with the right targeted keywords to impress whoever is looking at your resume or even to pass a software scan and help you get closer to that all important interview.
As technology advances and offers us ever more options, it was something of a natural progression that the resume as we know it, evolved into the digital or video resume. Rather than the usual printed or written resume templates we are used to seeing, this is a Digital resume, where the job applicant speaks to a camera and presents his sample resumes in video format. This is a two minute elevator speech kind of resume, where the applicant quickly, concisely and briefly states his or her abilities, and the possible contribution that they could make to the organization they are seeking employment with.
