Kids love toys, there‘s no doubt about that. Just to watch the look on their little faces when they are presented with a new toy is worth all the gold on earth. Kid‘s toys are not only for play, toys teach little kids so many things life and are only miniature models of life size items they would have to deal when they are adults. A little boy who loves an electric car might take it apart to see how it works. He could one day become a great mechanical engineer or even a race car driver. A little girl who plays with pots and pans and dolly tea sets might turn out to be good doctor or nurse or even a housewife who knows how to look after her family.
Experts say that playing with toys is essential to a child‘s development starting from the infant stage. Kids‘ toys like rattles, mobiles, toy teethers, and key rings help babies connect sound, sight, taste, touch, and smell to objects. Rattles do help them learn about cause and effect not to mention introduce colors and shapes. Color and shape recognition, spatial relationship awareness, hand‐eye coordination, and other motor skills are exercised through playing with educational toys that were made specifically to enhance those skills. There are also kids‘ toys that enhance the kids‘ imagination and creativity. Some toys even teach them patience (think floor puzzles) and reinforce the concept of hygiene (think bath and tub toys).
Aside from giving out to charitable institutions, you can also opt to give the toys to other children that are younger than your child. You can ask your kids to trade seldom‐used toys with their playmates, or organize a garage sale with the help of the kids. When it comes to storing stuff, on the other hand, you need to remember that kids generally use the whole house during playtime. This is why it‘s ideal to organize storage spaces in each room for easy access. For bedrooms, for instance, you can allocate a closet that will be easily accessible to your children. This is to allow them to get and keep their toys without having to ask for help every time. Apart from utilizing low‐level cabinets, you can also keep toys in boxes and bins you can put under the bed.
If you asked any child if his or her toys are important, the answer would be a resounding YES. We certainly thought so too when we were young enough to play with toys. When it‘s our turn to buy them for the little ones, some of us begin to question the relevance of toys in a child‘s life. We all have a favorite toy whose memories can still elicit a chuckle or two. Mine was a plastic food set with plates and cups and saucers. I used to play with my cousins, and we certainly had fun imagining those toy plates brimming with the sweets we craved back then.
Cars are frequently referred to as ”toys for the big boys”. A small child is very happy when his parents bought him car miniatures but as he reaches adulthood he wanted that miniature to be a real one. Having a car is like a dream come true for many adults. Though real cars are what big boys go after, some of them still love collecting toy cars and keeping them in their homes as decorations, keep sakes, or simply as toys they can still play with. Some people continue to have fun having collections of their plaything. They even spend more just to complete the collection because in one way or another they are happy with what they are buying, or they just love bringing out the kid in them.
It‘s a fact that the life expectancy of kids toys are short but we have to face the reality; with the high pricing cost of basic commodities nowadays it is really not practical for us to buy toys frequently to replace broken ones. It is therefore important that we teach our kids how to maintain their toys. We know that at one point those toys will be broken but what we could do is to extend the life span of those toys.
