Resume writing services have matured over the years and been sliced in two different categories. The first category of resume composing services provides revision and edition of resumes and the second one provide a professionally written resume. In the former type of service the candidate send the resume, via mail, fax or email it online, to the writing company and they revise it for grammar or other mistakes, they then rectify it and send back to the candidate. Such services exist simple to recheck the resume and edit the mistakes and do nothing more than that.
This almost precludes sending out mass resumes or dropping off 50 resumes at a job fair. Having multiple or adaptable resumes mean researching and targeting. In essence you should have two core resumes. The first resume is the one that you would send ahead. The second resume would be the one you leave behind after the interview. Because while I do think that Richard Bolles is dead on, sometimes you have to send a resume ahead of you.
Price Wars- As with any product or service, it‘s tempting to choose the least expensive one. On the other hand, it‘s not uncommon to believe that the highest priced service is the best; after all, they must be good in order to command thousand dollar fees, right? Wrong. While the price of the resume and limitations of your budget are important considerations, you don‘t always get what you pay for.
Resume writing services help candidates in producing a resume that can out perform other resumes and also assist in getting the interview early. These writing companies always constantly keep the contacts in touch to understand them better and craft the resumes through an adequate and personalized procedure. Since every writing company offers its own package of deals hence, the price for the resume composition is also differ in each company.
Are you serious about getting a better job? Do you keep losing out to people that probably aren‘t as qualified as you? These days it‘s not so much about who is best suited to the role, it‘s more about who is best prepared for the interview process. This also includes being ready and able to communicate their value and worth during the interview. This is one of the most critical and yet highly overlooked pieces of job seeking skills. If you don‘t have this skill, and one of your competitors does, you could easily lose out, even you are better suited to the job. This is even more likely if their resume is professionally produced and formatted.
I‘ve been asked a number of times for a resume overnight or for ”discounts” on quoted services because they have only budgeted X amount of dollars. First of all, the better your resume, the more opportunities you will receive...and there is no way a writer can ”throw something together” without taking the time to learn a great deal about you! If a service promises overnight work, you have to ask yourself why? If they are that readily available, then they aren‘t a very busy practice - probably for a reason. Most quality services offer a several day turnaround time and the writer typically spends several hours on each project. A quality, working resume can‘t be rushed if it‘s done right (and beware of any service who can ”fit you in” in a day. Good writers are busy for a reason).
